East Meadows Holds 1st Annual 5th Grade L.E.A.D. Conference

On Monday, November 4th, the 5th grade students at East Meadows Elementary were treated to an in-school conference complete with check in, name tags, swag bags, keynote speakers, break-out sessions and a delicious luncheon.

The purpose of the conference was to increase leadership skills and empower students to L.E.A.D. within the school and in their lives.  L.E.A.D. stands for:

L -  Live Each Day with a Grateful Heart

E - Engage in Lifelong Learning

A - Apply Yourself

D - Demonstrate Respect

The keynote speaker, Hunter Rassmussen, spoke to students about persevering through hardship as he shared his story of losing a leg in a hunting accident and how he continues to overcome obstacles and remain positive.  Breakouts included sessions led by Dallas Pruit (How to be your best self), student athlete leaders from Spanish Fork High School (How you treat yourself and others matters), and Principal Jordan (Learning is a privilege).

Students enjoyed a luncheon together before returning to class for the afternoon.  Many thanks to Leslie Swenson, East Meadows School Counselor, for coordinating the conference.  It was an inspiring day for all involved.
