Warm the Soles Check

Each December, Spanish Fork Junior High supports Warm the Soles Foundation through PENNY WARS. As the name implies, it is quite the competition! Teachers compete against teachers, and departments compete against departments. If you want a teacher to win, you donate silver coins and dollar bills. If you want a teacher to lose, you "bomb" them with pennies, which are subtracted from the teachers' totals.

This year, Mrs. White's squad basically competed against the rest of the school, bringing in more than 2/3 of the total donations. Many students tried to "bomb" her with pennies throughout the week; she was attacked with almost $175 worth of pennies. On Friday alone, she received 9959 pennies in her jar. But despite their designs, those pennies left a small dent in her totals.

As the school focused on the Sources of Strength value of GENEROSITY in December, they practiced giving. Some students donated their hard-earned babysitting money. Spanish Fork Junior set a new record for any fundraiser. The Lobos raised more than $10,000 for Warm the Soles, a charity that gives shoes to underprivileged students in our community.

Penny Wars was a battle for good where all sides were victorious!
