Superintendent Rick Nielsen met with school community council groups from across the district. They discussed district growth, and plans moving into the future. They also had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss items of interest to them.

Rees Elementary Celebrates 120 Years of Excellence with Fox 13 Rees Elementary School is buzzing with excitement today as they celebrate their 120th anniversary. To mark this special occasion, the school is hosting a fun-filled day of activities, including a visit from the Fox13 Cool Schools morning show. The Fox13 Cool Schools crew broadcasted live from Rees Elementary, highlighting the school's rich history, talented students, and dedicated staff. Students had the opportunity to showcase their academic achievements, perform musical numbers, and share their service project. Rees Elementary will be filled with laughter, joy, and a sense of community throughout the day. The school's 120th anniversary is a celebration of its enduring legacy and commitment to providing a quality education to the children of Spanish Fork.

Springville High School senior, Abi Stewart , is gaining valuable experience through her internship with the Utah Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. The lab, a collaboration between Utah State University, and the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food, plays a critical role in safeguarding animal health, protecting the agriculture economy, and shielding public health by diagnosing diseases that spread from animals to humans. Abi has the unique opportunity to learn from experts in pathology bacteriology, virology and molecular assays. Susan Langford, a math teacher at Springville High School, was recently selected by KSL as their Teacher Feature. “Susan has built a strong Math 2 program, written cutting edge math coursework, and developed exceptional concurrent enrollment courses in college level mathematics while at Springville High School. She will always do her very best to tutor and teach young people until they succeed. She is highly trained and well-skilled in building her students. She cares about her students and wants them to work hard and learn mathematics. The Nebo School District junior high cross country season has officially kicked off! On Friday, September 13th, teams from Springville, Mapleton, Payson, Spanish Fork, and Salem junior highs gathered at Mapleton Junior High to start the season. Athletes from all schools showed great sportsmanship and enthusiasm as they embarked on what promises to be an exciting and competitive season. Good luck to all the runners!

Analysa Allison named 2024-2025 Dreamstarter Teacher! Running Strong for American Indian Youth is excited to announce the 2024-2025 Dreamstarter Teacher grant recipients! This year, Running Strong has selected 12 educators to receive grants of up to $5,000 that will be used to make a lasting change in their students’ lives. Projects this year will include school gardens, Indigenous-focused curriculum, cultural sensitivity training, and more that will help shape these young learners into the leaders of the future. Analysa's dream is to empower her students to explore and pursue post-secondary education by creating opportunities for Native students to connect, create a community of support, and speak with role models to get them excited about their future. Nebo is so lucky to have Analysa! CONGRATULATIONS!

Thanks to a grant from the Nebo Education Foundation, Sage Creek students (K-5) will be able to view a Butterfly Waystation as they study the needs of butterflies (nectar, water), the importance of waystations for the survival of Monarch butterflies (habitats), lifecycles and the cycling of matter in an ecosystem. This past fall, kindergarten students at Sage Creek studied the lifecycle of the butterfly and raised Monarchs from egg to adult and released them. Included in this protected habitat will be milkweed plants, providing an opportunity for students to observe the natural environment for the egg and larva phase of the Monarch lifecycle. Milkweed and nectar sources are declining due to the use of pesticides, which makes a Waystation critical. https://www.mynef.org/
