The Utah Art Education Association recently held its annual Utah Art Educators’ Art Show.
Scott Shaffer, visual arts teacher at Salem Jr. High, was awarded 1st place for his painting titled Fruit.
Here is his statement concerning the piece and the competition

It's inspiring to observe biological organisms. The comparative anatomy of both plants and human beings reminds us that we are more alike than we are different.
"I'm grateful for the support I’ve received in both my roles as a teacher and an artist. I believe art is a powerful language—one that speaks without words—and through it, I strive to help students express voices that may not always be heard, but are deeply understood."
