Monday was an exciting day for 3rd graders at Sage Creek Elementary! Students had a special visitor, Mary (aka, Ms. Youd), from Colonial America. Mary took the students on a journey back in time, sharing stories about life between the late 1500s and the mid-1700s. The students learned about the thirteen colonies, explorers, and the geography of the New World.
Mary's visit is part of an engaging Colonial America unit that promises to make history come alive over the next few weeks. Stay tuned for more adventures from our young historians!

Guess who visited us today to welcome students back from Spring Break? None other than Gerald the Elephant and Piggie from Mo Willems' beloved series! These two best friends brought their joyful spirit and important lessons about friendship to our school. Their visit reminded us all about the importance of empathy, problem-solving, and the fun of learning together.
Thank you, Elephant and Piggie, and @springvillelibrary, for making our first day back unforgettable!

April Mental Health Series

Friday was a magical day at Sage Creek Elementary! We were thrilled to welcome Rebekah Wall, our 2024 Ms. Springville/Mapleton, who enchanted our 1st graders by reading "Snow White" while dressed as a dazzling princess, crown and all!
This visit was the perfect kickoff for our Fairy Tales unit, part of the Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) curriculum. Over the next few weeks, our students will dive into the world of fairy tales, exploring timeless stories that teach elements of character, plot, and settingābuilding a strong foundation for future fictional stories.
With engaging resources like Flip Books, Image Cards, and Activity Books, we're set to make this learning experience both educational and magical. Rebekah's visit truly brought the fairy tale world to life, sparking imagination and excitement in our young learners.

Congratulations to our Dragons of the Week (March 17-21)!

Exciting news from Mrs. Morrow's first-grade class! Our young explorers have just wrapped up their CKLA habitat unit, where they dived deep into the wonders of the natural world. Each child chose their favorite habitat, using oil pastels to create vibrant drawings and playdoh to sculpt the animals that call these places home. From the Arctic tundra to the tropical rainforest, these hands-on activities helped our students understand the complex interdependence of living things and their environments.
In just 15 days, they explored key concepts such as adaptation, food chains, and the importance of protecting our fragile ecosystems. With this foundational knowledge, they're all set to build a deeper understanding of the world's incredible biodiversity in future grades. Great job, first graders!
