THE PEAK AWARD CUSTOMER SERVICE PROGRAM
Nebo School District wants to showcase our Positive Energy and Kind employees. PEAK Awards are nominated by patrons and recognized by the Superintendent Staff and Nebo School Board of Education. The award is administered by the Communications and Community Relations Department.

Deon Youd, Teacher, Spanish Fork High
Nominated by: Ryann Bayless, Jade Andersen, Matt Christensen

“Deon is an exceptional teacher and mentor. She is an educator that always puts her students first and cares about what is best for them. Over the past four years that I have been teaching, she has offered endless support and encouragement in countless ways. This past December, I ended up getting very sick and missed over a month of school. Deon truly went above and beyond; she brought dinner to my family while I was in the hospital, checked on me almost daily, and then oversaw or planned all of my lessons in addition to her own. I was overwhelmed with gratitude and appreciation at this significant act of service. Deon does her job exceptionally well and asks for no recognition or reward. She is a selfless example of what it means to truly make a difference in the lives of her students and those fortunate enough to know her.”
~ Ryann Bayless

“Deon is one of those teachers that impacts students’ lives through every action that she makes. Within her classroom, she creates an environment that students thrive in. Just walking into her classroom, one can feel her passion to help students succeed. Recently Deon wrote sub plans for an ill teacher’s class. This made it possible for the teacher to concentrate about getting better. This extra effort also allowed those students to continue on their educational journey. Deon truly embodies Spanish Fork High's motto of: ‘Here We Learn for Life.’ Thanks Deon! SFHS loves you!!!”
~ Jade Andersen

“Deon Youd is an exceptional teacher. She is loved by her students and is loved and respected by the faculty and staff at Spanish Fork High School. She looks out for the well-being of others. We had a teacher that became very ill. Deon did not hesitate and immediately stepped up and provided lesson plans for her co-worker. We were impressed with Deon's willingness to help. She spent many extra hours preparing meaningful and powerful lesson plans. She is the perfect example of providing exceptional service to others. Thanks Deon for all you do!”
~Matt Christensen

Diane K. Martin, Education Technician, Payson Junior
Nominated by: Chris Killpack & Tammy Halcrow

“Diane has always been a hardworking, compassionate, and dedicated servant of students, but it is within the last couple of months that she has really shined more than usual. Payson Junior began a pilot program of providing a classroom for up to six students who need an alternative placement from their regular school schedule due to attendance or behavior challenges. Diane was assigned to tutor students in this setting on their elective classes and to assist teachers in core content instruction. These students are some of the most challenging students in the school, and a new group begins the program every three weeks. Diane has been amazing in building relationships and connecting with these students in ways that help them feel successful, cared for, and heard. Some of these students have started referring to her as ‘Mrs. Mom.’ We couldn't have been as successful with this pilot program if it weren't for Diane's amazing efforts at motivating and teaching our at-risk students. We are so lucky to have her at Payson Junior.”
