Don Andrews, Spanish Fork High coach, was recently named the Utah Softball Coach of the year by the Utah High School Activities Association (UHSAA).
Coach Andrews has coached fastpitch softball for 14 years. He has coached 37 All-State players that have 62 All-State Awards. Five players earned state MVP awards, and 6 athletes received the Utah Valley Player of the Year.
Coach of the Year is not new to Don. He has been honored with this award by the Salt Lake Tribune and Daily Herald in 2006 and by Deseret News and UHSAA this year.
Don’s colleagues say that he is an example of what all coaches can become – a winner in all aspects. Coach Andrews cares and it shows. He understands what high school athletics are about.
Athletic director, Doug Snell, said, “Coach Andrews works tirelessly helping his athletes improve in all facets of life. He understands that fastpitch (high school sports) is just a tool to help the athletes with their future. He is a good man.”
Congratulations, Coach Don Andrews, on “Letting It Shine”!
Brian Ostler, teacher at Springville High, is the winner of this week’s “Where are we Wednesday?”
