Nebo Athletic Excellence Award Winners Announced

Congratulations to Hailee Oldroyd, a graduate from Salem Hills High School, and Payton Murphy, a graduate from Springville High School, for being chosen as the Nebo Athletic Excellence Award Winners for 2020. 

Coaches at each high school submit their top athletes for this prestigious district award. Only two students are chosen from across the Nebo District by a district committee. 

Troy Bohling, Nebo School District Athletic Coordinator said, “We recognize that all of these students are talented and competitive athletes, so it is always a tough choice for the committee. We wish each of them a bright future in their athletics and academics.”

Hailee Oldroyd, Salem Hills High, earned more than 10 Athletic Letters all while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. She played volleyball, basketball, and ran track. She served as Team Captain for all three sports. Hailee contributed to winning state championships and region Championships. Hailee served in numerous service projects including cleaning up a home that was flooded, visiting and playing games with the elderly, and sending care packages to Haiti. 

Payton Murphy, Springville High, earned seven Athletic Letters all while maintaining a 3.9 GPA. He participated in two sports: basketball and football. He was a member of the state champion varsity basketball team and was selected as the Best of the Best 2019-20 Daily Herald All-Valley boys’ basketball team and football team. Payton was a two-year quarterback for football. He was also voted Best Male Athlete by Springville High School.  Payton earned his Eagle Scout Award and served his community by painting the snack shack, fire hydrants, and curbs at the high school.
