Apple Valley Delights the Nebo School Board of Education with their presentation.

The Nebo School Board of Education was delighted to have students back at Board meeting on Wednesday evening after a year of not being able to feel their excitement for school. The Nebo School Board welcomed the Apple Valley Elementary students and their parents to Board meeting.

“We are so proud of our Apple Valley students. They care deeply about one another. Our student council members fulfill their assignments to help students reach their potential. We appreciate Mrs. Kober, our school counselor, who directs our student council in serving the school community in meaningful ways,” expressed Principal Chad Argle of Apple Valley Elementary. “Our music class is taught by Mrs. Hoschouer. She is an incredible teacher who instructs the students to a deep level of understanding about music and its history. There is no question about the great future of these amazing students with their many talents and attitude of getting things done.”

Some of Apple Valley’s fifth-grade student council members had the opportunity to speak to the Nebo School Board of Education on the second week of September. The students shared some of the experiences they have had while serving on the council.

The meeting started with Jaxin Kuester, a fifth-grade student, leading the audience in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, and he later introduced the fourth-grade students who performed a musical number, “Best Day of Our Lives” conducted by the music teacher, Mrs. Kim Hoschouer.

Leah Rowley, a fifth-grade student, spoke about the leadership conference the student council had the opportunity to attend.

“We would like to thank Mr. Argyle our schools principal, Mrs. Hoschouer our school's music teacher, and Mrs. Kober, our school's student council adviser, for giving us this opportunity to share some things we have been learning and doing at our school,” said Leah. “One of my favorite things about being a student council member was the Leadership Conference we attended. The talks were interesting and fun. They also made a lot of sense to me. I heard a story there that I will never forget. It was about dollar bills. No matter how crinkled or worn one might get, it still has the same value as a new bill. We learned that it is the same with people. No matter what we look like or what we’ve been through, our worth never changes.”

Skylie Binks, a fifth-grade student, listed some of the duties assigned to the members, including serving as a Peer Helper to the younger kindergarten students. She relayed an experience she had during that assignment.

Hank Lowham, a fifth-grade student, spoke about participating on the Welcome Crew. He shared an experience he had while assisting a new student to his class each morning until the new student felt comfortable going on his own.

Chloe DeGraffenried, a fifth-grade student, mentioned the Holiday Pantry that the Student Council organizes and prepares for our school families in need and how it made her feel to serve others.

Ammon McKinnon, a fifth-grade student, spoke about the things the students of Apple Valley learn during their music class including: rhythm, dynamics, and tempo.  The students are also able to create, play, and write their own music in class.  He shared an experience of listening to a friend perform a musical number and how impressed he was by his friend's talent.

Apple Valley Elementary’s fourth-grade students then enthralled the Nebo School Board of Education by singing and performing actions to the song, “Best Day of Our Lives” led by Kim Hoschouer.

Nebo School District thanks Apple Valley’s Principal Chad Argyle; Mrs. Kim Hoschouer, the music teacher; and Mrs. Treana Kober, the student council advisor; and especially the students and families that came to participate in Board meeting.

Congratulations to Meghan DeGraffenried for answering this week’s “Where are we Wednesday?” challenge sponsored by Wiggy Wash.
