James Clark, Mathematics Teacher at Diamond Fork Middle School

The Utah State Board of Education and the Utah Council of Teachers of Mathematics chose James Clark, mathematics teacher at Diamond Fork Middle School, as the April Secondary Mathematics Teacher Spotlight for 2022.

“James has worked hard to increase student thinking and discourse in his classroom, and it is amazing! Through the use of rich, highly engaging tasks, there is an incredible amount of deep thinking and discourse happening in his classes. He asks open questions and allows students to think about and discuss the questions. He also makes connections between different representations students use to make sense of the math they are doing. He has a culture of respect and inclusion and works to make sure the students are involved in the thinking, the math, and the discussion. As a teacher, James is reflective and continuously looks for ways to improve and do what is best for his students. His students love him and love the feeling of his classroom. I am consistently impressed by the amount of thinking and learning that takes place in his classes.”

Congratulations on a job well done! Thank you for being a Nebo Hero James Clark.
