What do teachers do all summer? Nebo School District is on the cutting edge offering courses for teachers this summer.

Nebo teachers met the first two weeks of summer across the district for Nebo Framework training for student success. In order to give Nebo teachers new and fresh ideas as well as the latest research information and teaching strategies, Nebo offers professional development taught by high quality professionals throughout the year with concentration in the summer.

Some of the courses that were popular among our 500 teachers included: Digital Learning, Acadience Make and Take, Math–It’s Time to Face the Facts, Framework for Science & Social Studies, Adobe Creative Cloud, Google Earth, Get Your Rigor on with Shared Reading, Math–The Struggle is Real, Book Creator, Let’s get LETRS Organized, Art Skills in Watercolor, Making Math Engaging, Singing the Storytime Blues, and Applying Science to Solve Real-World Problems using Engineering to name just a few.

Wendy LeFevre, Nebo School District’s Curriculum Coordinator, said, “Nebo Academy had over 500 secondary and elementary teachers participate in our summer framework professional learning opportunities. We have very dedicated educators who continually work to learn and grow as professionals, to better serve our students.”

Some of the Nebo teachers took the time to let us know what they thought about the Nebo Academy:

“The most helpful thing for me was  learning new things to take and implement into my classroom. I felt that I have so many new ideas to choose from.”

“I liked being able to pick the subjects and classes that best fit my needs.”

“I loved the opportunity to collaborate with my team about how we can use and implement the things that we learned. Loved the variety of classes.”

“I loved spending time collaborating and sharing ideas from the core with other teachers. We were able to have authentic, honest conversations about what was most important.”

“I liked getting to know more of the teachers from the district.”

“It was great working with others to learn about the standards. I was able to think through and plan for what I can change for next year.”

“I love being with teachers from around the district. It’s great to get everyone’s different perspectives.”

“I enjoyed really diving into the standards and unpacking the standards in great depth.”

“Great presenters. I was very moved by their passion for their work.”

“I loved it. The personal stories were fabulous!”

“I loved hearing from new people and being able to meet new people in the district.”

Although Nebo School District’s many courses benefit the teachers, this training ultimately equates to higher success for student learning.

“Teachers in Nebo District are truly amazing. Their commitment to their own professional learning is shown by participating in the Nebo Framework conferences and collaborations,” stated Associate Superintendent Dr. Suzanne Kimball.

Nebo School District thanks all our teachers for taking the extra time during the summer to hone their skills and do what is best for students.
