The Bard was ready to play! Shakespeare teams from across Utah headed to Cedar City for the annual competition September 29  - October 1, 2022. Nebo School District was represented by Maple Mountain High, Payson High, Salem Hills High, Salem Junior High, Spanish Fork High, and Springville High. Students competed in team ensembles, duo/trio scenes, monologues, technical Theatre, music, and dance.

Karen Kidd, Nebo School District’s K-12 Fine Arts Specialist, said, “The Shakespeare Competition is highly competitive and provides the opportunity for students to receive feedback on their work from professionals in the field and to watch the work of other teams that can inspire and inform their practice. Students were also able to attend live theatre events staged by the Utah Shakespearean Festival and the Southern Utah University Theatre Department. Watching our students perform in professional spaces… sometimes in the pouring rain, was a celebration of the visionary programs that we have and the dedication to the art that is the foundation of the work in all of our schools”

Congratulations to the Spanish Fork High School team! They were awarded Second Place in Sweepstakes for the Oxford Division.

Bravo to Salem Hills High for taking First Place in the Troubador division of the music competition!

All of the performances and talent performed by Nebo School District students was strong and the competition proved to be a worthwhile educational experience!
