Congratulations to Thomas Jones, a senior at Springville High School, for his recent appointment as a midshipman at the US Naval Academy. Thomas may be the first Springville High School student to ever receive this appointment (that we are aware of). To be considered for admission, a student must be recommended by a US Senator or Representative from the applicant’s congressional district and have high standards of physical fitness and academic achievement. Currently, the US Naval Academy has an 8.4 percent admittance rate.
Thomas is currently serving as the President of the SHS Honor Society. He also has a 4.0 GPA and has taken many AP classes here at Springville High School.
