Nebo School District Teams Up with Intermountain Health to Bring Robotic High-Tech Operating Room Experience to Students
Nebo School District and Intermountain Health have teamed up to bring a high-tech robotic operating room experience to students to give them an up-close look and hands-on experience with robot-assisted surgery.
Intermountain Spanish Fork Hospital recently launched robotic assisted surgery with the da Vinci XI robotic-assisted surgical system for minimally-invasive surgical procedures for gynecologic, urologic, thoracic, cardiac, and other general surgery cases.
On Thursday, May 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. during the Nebo School District’s Career & Technical Educational (CTE) Expo, 7th grade students will get a hands-on demonstration of the same robotic system surgeons use for training.
During the hands-on demonstration, students will learn how the system works and see how math and science translates to career opportunities involving technology, engineering, and healthcare.
The expo is an opportunity for students to explore a large variety of CTE careers through fun and engaging activities. Approximately 2,000 7th graders from Nebo and Provo school districts will be in attendance.
Students, educators, surgeons and other Intermountain caregivers will be available.
