The Payson Drama Lions have once again showcased their exceptional talent and dedication at the Region 8 Drama Competition, leaving a resounding mark on the stage and securing numerous accolades.

One of the highlights of the competition was the outstanding performance of the ONE ACT production, "Breathless" by Jan Shelton Hunsaker, which secured the esteemed 3rd place spot in the region. Tanna Lavery's portrayal of Polly Shelton earned her the prestigious title of Best Supporting Actor in a One Act, further highlighting the depth of talent within the troupe.

But the triumph didn't stop there. The Drama Lions also excelled in the technical aspects of theater production. Isa Munoz, Emily Lauber, and Ximena Ibarra claimed the top spots in Costume Design, showcasing their creativity and attention to detail. Additionally, Addie Lavery and Max Keller's prowess in Set Design earned them well-deserved recognition, with Max Keller clinching the 1st place in Region Technical Theatre Competition.

Individual events proved to be a playground for our talented performers as well, with an impressive 21 out of 25 entries earning a ticket to the State Drama Competition. Notable mentions include Danny Wheeler's 2nd place in Pantomime, Tanna Lavery's 3rd place in Dramatic Monologue, and Lemon Kunz and Mytchie Baxter's 3rd place in Classical Scene. Brayden Hammond and Zach Hughes also secured the 3rd place in Contemporary Scene, showcasing their versatility and skill.

The collective efforts of the team culminated in a remarkable achievement as they clinched the coveted 1st place Sweepstakes in the region, a testament to the hard work and dedication of the students and coaches alike.

As they celebrate this triumph, their sights are set on the upcoming 4A State Drama Competition scheduled from April 11th to 13th in Logan, Utah.

Congratulations to all the participants, coaches, and supporters for their unwavering commitment to excellence. The Payson Drama Lions have proven yet again that they are a force to be reckoned with in the world of theater!
