Today, May 20th, 2024, marked a historic day for Spanish Fork High School as they celebrated the grand opening of their brand-new building! Superintendent Rick Nielsen kicked off the festivities with a warm welcome, setting the stage for an evening filled with excitement and reminiscing.
Venturing Crew 1532 led the assembled crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance. The Spanish Fork High School Choir then filled the air with a stirring rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner.
Principal Matt Christensen spoke, his words brimming with enthusiasm as he envisioned the new opportunities the magnificent building presents for students. The Spanish Fork High School Choir treated the audience to a heartfelt performance of the school song.
Superintendent Nielsen and School Board Member John Taylor shared fond memories of the old high school building, acknowledging its significance in shaping generations of students. However, they also emphasized the immense potential of the new facility, a place brimming with cutting-edge technology and resources to nurture the talents of future Dons.
The moment everyone had been waiting for finally arrived – the ribbon-cutting ceremony! As scissors met the red ribbon, the official opening of this new chapter in the school's history began.
The new Spanish Fork High School boasts an impressive 369,707 square feet of space, housing 91 well-equipped classrooms that foster a vibrant learning environment. The performing arts take center stage with a stunning 1522-seat auditorium, perfect for showcasing student talent. For athletic endeavors, two state-of-the-art gymnasiums provide ample space, seating 2520 enthusiastic fans. Staying active is further encouraged with a dedicated 729-foot indoor track. And for student convenience, 442 hallway lockers provide secure storage.
