The Nebo Education Foundation board met in May, to discuss the many grants and needs across the district. This Foundation Board functions through generous donations made by individuals and businesses as well as fundraisers where all the money goes to educate students in Nebo School District.

One fund-raising effort is the annual “Green Fever” golf tournament that helps fund these various grants throughout the year. It will be held Thursday, September 1, 2022. We still have the noon flight available for sponsorships. The Nebo Education Foundation appreciates the generous support of so many businesses and individuals to help pull this off. Thank you to all those that continually support Nebo students.

Congratulations to the following teachers that continue to inspire the minds of students.

Springville Junior – Darleen Tills
Darleen Tills, mathematics teacher at Springville Junior, said with much gratitude, “Thank you, thank you Nebo Foundation! I’m so thrilled to have the opportunity to teach my students to use the features of these graphing calculators. This is technology that is incredibly useful to know as students can use these resources to better understand mathematics fundamentals and when taking the ACT. The applications in solving, graphing, understanding systems of equations, intercepts, slope, and statistics is so valuable and becomes more tangible when this technology is right in their hands and accessible to all of my math students, not just those that can afford to buy their own. Thank you for making this resource a reality.  It will now be available for many years to come and utilized for hundreds of students.”

Cherry Creek – Jenna Jarvis
“Thank you so much for the grant for math manipulatives, specifically wrap ups! This grant will encourage hands-on learning, in a fun and engaging way. Students will appreciate interacting and challenging themselves with the new manipulatives. They will have so much fun, they won’t even know they are learning,” stated Jenny Jarvis, fifth-grade teacher at Cherry Creek. “As a teacher I not only appreciate the monetary funds, but I appreciate being heard and validated. It is encouraging that when I reached out with a request and that request was not only heard but also supported financially. Thank you Nebo Education Foundation! Thank you Nebo Education Foundation!”

Springville Canyon Middle – Sherry Plaisted
“I appreciate all the support the Nebo Education Foundation gives to teachers with worthy projects. You are always so willing to help provide students with the tools they need to thrive. In this case books for smaller group instruction. We have found this is still vital to student progress in our middle school setting. Thank you so much,” stated literacy coach,” said Sherry Plaisted, literacy coach at Springville Middle.

Springville Junior – Merissa Jones
“Thank you for approving my grant. Since I teach Special Education English classes, I have a lot of struggling readers. I have found that many of my students claim to hate reading, but it turns out they just haven't found the right book for them. With this grant, I was able to buy the rest of a series they are currently devouring and another series they have requested. They are so excited to keep reading and it makes me happy that we finally found something for them. Again thank you for helping them get access to books,” said Merissa Jones, English teacher at Springville Junior.

The Nebo Education Foundation is composed of 20 volunteer board members who live in cities serviced by Nebo School District.  Board members meet each month to review and award grant requests, consider fund-raising avenues and other items that advance the educational opportunities for Nebo School District students. Many of the donations received are for selected projects, yet a substantial amount is available for the greatest need. Greatest need monies are considered for grants submitted by area schools.
